But unlike any other suburban home, it has the ability to produce 100% of the energy needed to heat and cool the home, run all of the electric appliances and even have enough left over to power an electric vehicle.

EnergyStar Appliance Rating Standards Overhauled

Many consumers have become increasingly wary of EnergyStar appliance rating standards. Now, to bolster consumer trust, give the EnergyStar program a much-needed boost of reliability and continue the overall effort by the Obama administration to improve the energy efficiency of homes and appliances to save families money, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Department of Energy (DOE) announced on March 19 that EnergyStar will undergo an overhaul that will expand testing of EnergyStar qualified products.
